Iglesia San Pedro was built in 1590 by the first bishop of the region, Bishop Garcia de Cáceres. It is believed that he had a dream in which St. Peter appeared and told him to build a church in the region. The first temple was destroyed and reconstructed in 1607, when a new building was inaugurated. By 1636, the structure was already complete, and the dominant Gothic style gave it a unique look. Since then, several renovations have taken place, but much of the original structure remains. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Spain.
