Church of Saints Blaise and Charles ai Catinari In Rome: History,Facts, & Services
History:
The church of Saints Blaise and Charles was first built on the remains of a chapel dedicated to St. Blaise in 1430. This chapel was later remodeled, constructed, and dedicated to both St. Blaise and St. Charles in 1599 by Pope Clement VIII. In 1850, the church was restored and expanded by Antonio da Sangallo, who added two side chapels. In the mid 19th century, it was again remodeled in the neo-Renaissance style. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Rome.

•The church is located on Via dei Santi Quattro, also known as Via dei Greci, near the Pantheon. •The church houses a collection of art and sculptures from the 15th and 16th century, as well as a variety of canvases and paintings from renowned Baroque-era Italian painters. •The church's altarpiece depicts Saints Blaise, Charles the Martyr, and Thomas Becket, along with a painting of the Blessed Virgin and an image of the Last Supper. •In front of the church stands a statue of St. Blaise of Sebaste, which was formerly located on the stairs of the adjacent Palazzo di San Blasio.
Services:
The church holds weekly services every Sunday, with a weekly recital of the Divine Mercy Chaplet held on Thursdays. The church also offers special masses for holidays such as Christmas, Easter and Saints’ days. In addition, the church organizes and hosts special events for the local community, such as weddings and baptisms. The church also has a choir that performs at Mass, as well as other special occasions.This beautiful church in Rome has made a lot of significance in the past.
