St Michel Church is a Roman Catholic church located in the 20th arrondissement of Paris, France. It is the parish church of the Parisian district of the same name, and is renowned for its impressive neo-Gothic architecture. It is one of the best churches in Mauritius which you must visit.

History:

St Michel Church has stood since 1883 and is dedicated to the Archangel Michael, whom is known as the patron saint of Paris. The land it occupies was consecrated 200 years earlier and was the site of a chapel dedicated to the Virgin Mary in 1772, which was destroyed during the French revolution. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Mauritius.

The tower of St Michel Church was designed in an eclectic Gothic style. It stands 79m (260 ft) tall and has 11 bells cast from bronze and steel. The bells were created by renowned French foundry, Gillebert Paccard.
