In Shri Vishnu Bhavan of Vacõas-Phoenix in Mauritius, all puja ceremonies take place according to the Vedic traditon. Pujas are performed in the temple everyday and during special occasions like festival, birthdays or satyanarayan or karva-chauth. Traditional priests are hired to perform the puja, and devotees chant mantras and offer flowers and fruits to the deity. Generally, an earthen lamp is lit during the puja, and the priest also offers yagna, which is a form of fire ritual. The priest then performs prayers and offers flowers and fruits as blessings to the deity.
