Église St.Anne is a historic Catholic church and an important part of the historic Old Montreal district in the city of Montreal, Quebec, Canada. It was constructed under the direction of Sulpician priests in 1725 in what was then called Ville-Marie, making it the oldest stone church in the city. It is named after Saint Anne, the patron saint of New France. The church is known for its historic stone spire, decorative stonework, Rococo-inspired interior, and for hosting numerous important events in Montreal's religious and cultural history, such as the baptism of Paul Chomedey de Maisonneuve, the founder of the city of Montreal, and hosting the first Christmas Midnight Mass in Montreal. Its services include weekly Masses in French, plus special masses and services on special occasions. It is also the regular venue for the great Montreal Bach Festival and other special music performances.
