The Church of Central Flacq was founded in 1906, after a long process of deliberation by the Anglican community of Mauritius. At the time, therewere only two other Anglican churches operating—in Port Louis and Beau-Bassin. The founding of the Church of Central Flacq was largely due to the efforts of Reverend John Richmond Welch, who had served in Mauritius from 1880 to 1904.
