The main form of worship at the Shri Adinath Temple in Palitana is through the traditional daily rituals of puja. Puja consists of two ritual offerings, one to the sun god Surya and the other to Lord Adinath. Puja is performed in the sanctum of the temple under the guidance of experienced priests. A complete chanted puja normally begins at 7.00 am with an offering of ghee, sugar, grains and akshat (unboiled rice), along with a coconut and other materials. This is followed by 108 prostrations before the statue of Adinath and chanting of various mantras.
