Chapelle Militaire Ivato In Madagascar: History,Facts, & Services

Chapelle Militaire Ivato In Madagascar is a French military chapel in Ivato, Madagascar. Built in the 1950s by the French military, it currently serves as a place of worship for Catholics, Protestants and Orthodox Christians. The chapel was built in memory of soldiers who had died in the First and Second World Wars. The chapel is located near the old colonial-era cemetery of Ivato, which holds the remains of fallen soldiers from both wars. The chapel is also the final resting place of Laurent-Désiré Kabila, the second president of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, who died in 2021 at the age of 77. Inside the chapel is a memorial to French soldiers who died in the First and Second World Wars, including a plaque with the names of all the soldiers buried in the cemetery. The chapel also holds various religious artifacts such as religious paintings and artifacts of historical importance, such as the original flag of Madagascar. In addition, the chapel is host to various events and ceremonies such as weddings, baptisms and confirmations.
