Chapelle Militaire Betongolo In Madagascar is a historical chapel located in the city of Mahajanga, in the northwest of Madagascar. The chapel was built in 1891 by the Madagascar Commandant General Alexis Lucien Betongolo, who was a major French general during the Second Franco-Malagasy War. Its construction was intended to commemorate the victory of the troops under his command over the Malagasy army government. The chapel is composed of a simple chapel style design and stands at the edge of the historical ruins of Betongolo. It features a large, vaulted roof, a nave and an area for prayer. The interior of the chapel is lit up with six-sided window openings, its walls are white and marble, and its floor is decorated with tiles. There are several artifacts inside the chapel, such as a chandelier, an alter, six colored windows and two statues. The chapel is still open to the public for services and is used as a place of worship for Catholics and Protestants alike.
