The Church of Clervaux was first built in 1050 AD by Count Otto of Grandfresne. During construction, two apses were added and the church was later dedicated to St. Nicholas by Count Godefroy of Clervaux in 1146. In the late 17th century, the church was restored and the tower benefitted from a Baroque-style addition. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Luxembourg.
