History:

Cathédrale Notre-Dame was begun in 1160 and completed in 1345. Its architect is unknown, but it is believed to have been built by the influential French architect Pierre de Montreuil. The cathedral was primarily built from the famous limestone of Paris, known as the “white stone”. The facade has been reworked multiple times, with the spire and rose windows being completed in the 19th century. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Luxembourg.
