The Vilnius Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Lithuania is a branch of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, commonly known as the Mormon Church. This branch of the church was founded in 1976 by two missionaries who provided religious services to the Lithuanian people. In 1988, a Lithuanian-speaking branch was created in Vilnius, in what is now the Republic of Lithuania. Today, there are close to 4000 members of the Church in Lithuania and the Vilnius branch serves as a centre of religious activities, education, and social events for its followers. The Church provides services such as Sacrament Meeting, Sunday School, Relief Society, Young Men’s and Young Women’s activities, and other activity nights. In addition, the Church provides its members with a full range of spiritual, social, educational, and service opportunities. The teachings of the Church are based on the Bible and the Book of Mormon and they emphasize love, relationships, family, and missionary work. Missionaries from the Church have served in Lithuania since its foundation and many Lithuanian members have completed mission trips overseas.
