Originally built in the 14th century, the church has undergone a few renovations and has been used as a temple for various denominations over the years. Its present form dates from the 18th century. History:

As it is uncertain when the church was first built, the approximate date of its construction is set in the 14th century when Kaunas began to develop as an important commercial city. The original St. Stephen’s church was destroyed during Lithuania’s occupation under the Soviet Union. A new church was built on the site in 1957 and was consecrated in 1960. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Lithuania.
