Church of Apostles St. Philip and St. Jacob In Lithuania: History,Facts, & Services
History:
The first church was built on the site of the present one in 1685 but was demolished in 1746 due to its poor condition. Construction of the new church building began in 1747 and was completed in 1757. The new church was constructed in the Baroque style typical of the period. The interior is decorated with sculptures and frescos done in the Rococo style. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Lithuania.

The facade of the church is made of red bricks and consists of three bays. The interior is decorated with white plaster with numerous paintings and sculptures. The most notable sculptures are the ones of the apostles Saint Philip and Saint Jacob. The main altar of the church is gilded and dates back to the 18th century.

The church holds Mass every Sunday morning and also hosts major religious events such as baptisms, confirmations, and weddings. The church also serves as a venue for concerts and other cultural events.
