History:

dates back to 1237 when Count Hugo of Montfort gave St. Luzisteig to the Prince-Abbots of near-by Pfaffenstein. Originally a Romanesque church with 3 naves and a coeval tower, it was rebuilt in the early 15th century in late Gothic style. The new building comprised two towers topped by Baroque-style spires and a round peak between them. Inside the choir section there are impressive wall paintings from 1745. The most precious item though is a woodcarved altarpiece from the late-Gothic period. The pews remind to of a 16th century German style. The organ and marble pulpit are mainly Baroque.
