Reverend Delbert K. Temple was a pastor of the historic African American Church, Allen AME Church in Winston-Salem, NC in 1944. He was sent by the Board of Education of The African Methodist Episcopal Church to Lesotho to help build churches and provide spiritual and educational aid to the people of Lesotho. After a month in mission in Lesotho, Reverend Temple and his wife, Agnes, founded the Agnes Ball Temple, AME Church in 1950. Since then, the church has provided spiritual guidance, religious education, and social assistance to the people of Lesotho and beyond. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Lesotho.
