Church of the Holy Trinity in Latvia is an Orthodox Church, established in 1878 and located in Riga, Latvia. During the 1940s, both the parish and the church were dissolved by the Soviet Union resulting in the church being returned to the Latvian Orthodox Church in 1992. Facts The main altar of the church features a 6th-century icon of the Archangel Michael, which was discovered near Valdai, on the Russian north-western railway line. The church is often referred to as ‘John the Theologian’, being named after John the Evangelist, one of the four Apostles of Jesus.
