History:

Al Shaheed Park (sometimes spelled as Al Sha’ab Park), officially known as Liberation Tower Park, is a large public park in Kuwait City, Kuwait. It is the country’s first modern park, and was opened in 1999 in commemoration of the liberation of Kuwait from Iraq in Operation Desert Storm. The park covers an area of more than 100 hectares, with a variety of landscaped gardens, playgrounds, recreational areas, beaches, and an Islamic cultural center. Al Shaheed Park was the brainchild of the Kuwaiti government, who wanted to create a “peaceful oasis” in the city to commemorate its liberation from Iraq. It was designed by noted British landscape architect and urban planner Terry Farrell, who was given wide latitude in his design for the project. He focused the park around a central lake, which is shaped like a map of Kuwait, surrounded by forests, flowering gardens, and thousands of trees and plants to provide shade and a place to relax. The park is home to a panoramic view of Kuwait City and the Persian Gulf. Its central attraction is the Liberation Tower, a 355-meter-high tower reminiscent of the Eiffel Tower in Paris, France. It has become a symbol of Kuwait’s independence and is often illuminated at night in red, white, and green—the colors of the Kuwaiti flag. In addition to the tower, there are two large artificial lakes connected by a channel. There is also a “Discovery Center,” which contains interactive exhibits on science, technology, and media. Finally, visitors can enjoy a variety of restaurants and cafes featuring international and local cuisine. Today, Al Shaheed Park is one of the most popular attractions in Kuwait. It is beloved by locals and tourists alike, and continues to be a cherished landmark in Kuwait City. You must visit one of these historical places in Kuwait on your Kuwait tour
