Worship Method:

Mahavir Swami Jain Temple in Osian is one of the most sacred pilgrimage sites for Jains in India. The main Jain Idol housed in the temple is a unique 1017-year-old marble sculpture of Lord Mahavir, the 24th and final Jain Tirthankar. The temple follows the Digambar sect of Jainism and its rituals differ from those of other Jain temples. The temple follows the traditional 'Samayik' ritual, a two hour long cycle of worship and devotional services. The major components of this ritual are meditation, prayer, chanting and listening to religious discourses. After entering the temple, devotees perform 'Chauthi' (bowing four times before the idol) and then offer flowers to the Lord. Then a prayer is made for the Lord's blessing and blessings are offered by the priest. After this, devotees recite the Mahamantra, chant Jain bhajans and other prayers, and observe the idol of Lord Mahavir with great reverence and devotion. In the end, the priest recites 'DevaTiraskar'- prayers of gratitude to the divine souls that have attained salvation after their sacrificial service to the world. Finally, the temple is closed after offering 'Pind Sampravasana', a ritual for the eternal liberation of Lord Mahavir. The Mahavir Swami Jain Temple has been an important pilgrimage site for centuries for devotees of Lord Mahavir and other sects of Jainism. Even today, thousands of pilgrims come here every year to seek divine blessings and peace. This most visited temple in Rajasthan
