United Pentecostal Church of Kenya (UPCK) is a Christian denomination that is a member of the International Pentecostal Holiness Church (IPHC). UPCK was founded to promote unity and holiness among Pentecostal Christians in Kenya. UPCK began as a fellowship of believers in 1990, under the presiding Apostle Peter S. Mutuku. Today, UPCK is a global Pentecostal denomination with a presence in the United States, Canada, Kenya, South Africa, and other parts of the world. In Kenya, the UPCK has more than 150 churches with members from various denominations and backgrounds.
UPCK operates as a self-governing body under the leadership of the elected and appointed Bishop or Patriarch. The Bishop is elected in each locality and serves for a term of three years. The Bishop is responsible for administering the UPCK faith and promoting its growth in the region. UPCK locally and internationally involves in the operations of recent socio-economic-political activities, such as education, poverty alleviation, healthcare, human and civil rights, evangelism, and development of vocational skills.
UPCK is guided by the evangelical beliefs of the Christian faith and reflects a full gospel and experiential experience. The denomination also follows a basic set of doctrines which includes salvation by grace through faith, repentance, baptism in the name of Jesus, and reception of the baptism of the Holy Ghost and the evidence of speaking with tongues. UPCK emphasizes the power of the Holy Spirit to bring about lasting spiritual fruit and transformation. Theologically UPCK is an Evangelical, Pentecostal and Holiness Church.
