In 1981, the church underwent major renovations, and in 1987 it was named NICA in recognition of the work of the nearby Nandi people. It is one of the best churches in Kenya which you must visit.

NICA CATHEDRAL CHURCH In Kenya was founded in 1953 by American Lutheran Missionaries stationed in Eldoret. The church was constructed using stones from the local landscape, and the first service was held on Christmas Day 1953. Eventually the church was renovated and in 1987 the name was officially changed to NICA CATHEDRAL CHURCH In Kenya. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Kenya.
