The Worship Method of Shree Kheer Bhawani Durga Temple in Jammu Kashmir comprises of some traditional and religious rituals. The temple is devoted to the Shakti of Maa Durga and is believed to be located on the dais of a sacred lake. Devotees visit this temple in large numbers to seek Maa Durga’s blessings and grace. The temple opens for worship at 9 am in the morning and is closed by 7 pm in the evening. Devotees are expected to perform 'Aarti' and chant 'Shri Durga Mantra'; offering 'prasadam' (sacred flowers, fruits and food) to the goddess. A holy dip in the lake is recommended as part of the worship ritual. Kheer is offered as the main offering to the Goddess. Kheer is a pudding like dessert made up of rice, milk and sugar. The devotees are asked to offer a bunch of 21 stems of holy flowers in the shrine. The main ritual of worship involves offering holy water from the lake to the Goddess.
