Overview:

Ostrovsky Square is a large public open space in the center of St. Petersburg, Russia. It occupies an area of almost 6 hectares and is bounded by the Neva River, the Bolshoi Prospekt, the Belinsky Embankment, and the Park on the tip of Vasilyevsky Island. The square is named after the Russian dramatist Alexander Ostrovsky, whose monument is located here. The centerpiece of Ostrovsky Square is a large fountain, built between 1975 and 1979, and known as The Fountain of Bells. This spectacular fountain has numerous bells that were designed by Yevgeny Annenkov and features a wide range of statues and figures. There are also two other fountains on the square, the Pyramida-Moat fountain and the Blue Sea fountain.
