St. Colman's Cathedral, Cobh, is a Neo-Gothic Roman Catholic cathedral located in the town of Cobh, County Cork, Ireland. It was built between 1868-1919, and is the largest cathedral in the province of Munster. It is dedicated to Saint Colman, an Irish saint from the 6th century, who established the first known Christian faith community in the area. It is one of the best churches in Ireland which you must visit.

History:

The first church at the Cobh site was a small wooden structure built in 1815. It was destroyed in 1820, and the next structure, a Gothic Revival building, was erected in 1837. This structure was destroyed in 1862 by a fire, and the present building was constructed according to a Neo-Gothic design. Work on the project was not completed until 1919, except for a brief respite during the Irish War of Independence. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Ireland.
