The Parish of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church was founded in 1885, when Fr. John Lucey was appointed pastor. The area surrounding the church was mostly rural and only had 3,000 inhabitants at the time. Over the years, the parish grew and the community around it grew as well. In 1901, a new building was constructed, although it had to be enlarged in 1925 due to increasing numbers of parishioners. Since then, the parish has undergone many renovations, and continues to serve the faithful of Chicago. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Ireland.

Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church is home to a community of 1,500 members. The church offers seven Masses every week for different occasions and demographics. The parish also runs two schools, one for grades kindergarten-8th, and the other for pre-K and kindergarten.
