History:

The first Methodist meetings in Donegal Town were held during the late 1700s in a private house. In 1829, a year before the official establishment of the church, a larger building was obtained for religious services. After a few years of renting and borrowing property, land was bought on the corner of Market Street and Upper Main Street in Donegal Town and a chapel was built. Completed in 1830, this became the first permanent home of Donegal Town Methodist Church. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Ireland.
