The Al-Jawadain Mosque is an Islamic religious structure located in the west of Baghdad, Iraq. It was built in 1096 by the Al-Sultan al-Majd al-Mawan Al-Kamil Al-Jawad, who was the son of the first Caliph, Al-Mustansirbillah. The mosque is located on the east side of the river Tigris, approximately 5 km away from the centre of Baghdad. The Al-Jawadain Mosque is a traditional Islamic building, with two stories made of brick and stone on the exterior. The first floor of the mosque is made up of an open arched portico, and there is a mihrab and minbar on the interior walls. The prayer hall itself is a large rectangular room, with four tall arched portals at each corner. On the second floor, the mosque has several small domes, and a central dome. The decoration of the mosque is primarily in the Mughal style, with carved stone arches, vertical blind arches, and coloured glazed tiles. The walls are decorated with Islamic symbols such as Arabic calligraphy and geometric designs. The Al-Jawadain Mosque is an important historical site and is a popular tourist attraction.
