History:

Tugu Church was built in 1650, by Dutch East India Company (VOC) and dedicated to Erasmus of Formiae, a Catholic saint. For two centuries the Dutch colonialists who ruled Indonesia held services at the church. During the Indonesian War of Independence in 1949, it was bombed, and subsequently restored in 1957. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Indonesia.
