Overview:
Megalithic Cists and Cairns are prehistoric structures built during the Neolithic period in India. These date back to around 3300-2500 BC, making them among the oldest man-made structures in India. They were used as burial sites and were likely built to commemorate the dead. Cairns are circular or rectangular mounds of stones, while cists are stone-lined graves that are rectangular in shape.
