Lohagad Fort In India: History,Facts, & Services
Overview:
d Fort is an ancient military fortification located in the Sahyadri mountain range near Lonavala, Maharashtra. Situated at an altitude of 1,033 m, it is one of the most important forts in the region, having witnessed many battles. The fort has great historical and mythological significance in different parts of Maharashtra. This national monument of India portrays the history and culture of the country.
History:
Lohagad Fort has an impressive and unusual architecture, with a huge rock cut staircase leading to the top. On one side, the fort has a massive gate that was made from large logs of wood and iron spikes. There is also a Lohgad gatewa on the other side, featuring a three-layer gate made of metal. The upper layer consists of a stone gate, and the middle layer is a wooden door. The main fortification is made of two parts, the citadel and the fortifications. The citadel consists of two huge bastions, the main fort wall and two gates. You must visit one of these historical places in India on your India tour
