Chaplian’s House, Chennai is an historic landmark, located on the northwestern side of Chennai. It is located in the Egmore area of the city and is one of the oldest buildings of the colonial era in South India. The building was constructed by Chaplian Thomas Dott within the jail compound in 1887 and is named after him. History:

The Chaplian's House is a single storey building constructed in the traditional Tamil panchamukha style. It consists of four identical wings which form the building with a central hall and a porch. The walls are made of laterite blocks and the roof is constructed from jack arches supported by granite pillars. The building is decorated with white walls, green and yellow motifs, interspersed with sculpted stucco figures and other architectural design elements.
