St. Laurence Anglican Church is an Anglican parish in the Diocese of Toronto which was established in 1891. The church is located in the Lawrence Park neighbourhood in Toronto, Canada and is one of the largest and oldest Anglican parishes in the city. History:
The original St. Laurence Church was founded in 1891, when the parish was founded at what was then the village of Lytton Park. It was initially part of the Diocese of Toronto. In 1911, the congregation moved to its current location on Yonge Street, due to the growing size of the parish. The first church building was designed by architects J. H. Craig and W. G. Badgley, and built by W.T. Barry. The church expanded over the years, and in 1945 a new chancel and choir were added. The congregation had also grown, so a new parish hall was built in 1947. Further expansion took place in 1967, when a new building was erected to the west side of the existing sanctuary, housing additional classrooms and offices. The parish also supports a number of social outreach initiatives, such as St. Lawrence's Tutoring Program, summer camps, housing programs and weekly worship services.
