Grace Pentecostal Church (Guyana) Inc. is a religious organization founded in Georgetown, Guyana in 1960. The church was created as an independent branch of the Church of the Nazarene and has grown to become the largest Pentecostal church in the country. The mission of the church is to make disciples of Jesus Christ, develop them in the faith, and spread the gospel throughout Guyana and beyond. History The church was founded in 1960 by Reverend Albert Joseph and Maude Edwards, who had come to Georgetown from several countries in the West Indies. In the late 1960s, Joseph became the first superintendent of the Church of the Nazarene in Guyana. Under Joseph’s leadership, the church experienced rapid growth and expansion, with the opening of numerous churches, affiliated schools and other social services organizations. The organization’s official name was changed to Grace Pentecostal Church in 2000. Facts • Grace Pentecostal Church (Guyana) Inc. is a member of the Global Nazarene Family of Churches, which comprises of 13 different Nazarene denominations worldwide. • Grace Pentecostal Church has over twenty-six churches across Guyana and is committed to outreach and social outreach programs within its own ministerial and local community. • The church’s headquarters is based in Georgetown, while its ministry operates around Guyana and also in many countries throughout the world. Services Grace Pentecostal Church (Guyana) Inc. offers a variety of services including Sunday morning worship services, Bible study and personal growth classes, children and youth ministries, and daily and special programs such as midweek prayer meetings and revival meetings. The church’s main focus is on evangelism, discipleship, and service. Through these activities, Grace Pentecostal Church seeks to bring people to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ, help them to grow their faith and love for Him, and provide practical assistance in the community.
