Its immediate predecessor was the Pentecostal movement of Charles Parham in Topeka, Kansas. The Church of the Nazarene was officially organized October 10, 1909 at the Pilot Point, Texas camp meeting of the Association of Pentecostal Churches of America. The organization’s name derives from its identification with Jesus as the Nazarene. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Guyana.
