History:

Christ Church was first established in 1854, through the efforts of the Rector of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Dr. John B. Slaughter. Slaughter believed that the parishioners of St. Paul’s needed a church nearer to the center of Houston and requested funds from the diocese to purchase a lot for a new building. Christ Church Anglican Church was then formed in 1863. In the spirit of its founding, Christ Church Anglican Church continues to model traditional Anglican beliefs and practices, such as weekly Communion, Advent and Lenten services, and a reliance on the Creeds, Prayer Books, and Bible as the basis of faith. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Guyana.
