Ambaji Temple is one of the most important religious sites in India. It is situated at the foothills of the Aravalli mountain range, near Danta, a small village town in Banaskantha district, Gujarat. Worship Method:
The Ambaji temple in the Danta taluka of Gujarat is a major Hindu temple dedicated to Goddess Amba. Worship of Goddess Amba is conducted in accordance with the Tantra traditions and the traditional Pancharatrika or"Five Nights" worship method. This method of worship includes offerings such as Havis or Ghee, fruits, flowers, and incense to the Goddess. The temple also contains a large number of idols, which are worshipped by devotees. The five nights consist of Prataha Puja (morning worship) in which the priest offers Abhishekh (ritual bathing) to the goddess image and Puja (ceremonial worship). In the afternoon, the priest offers special prayers to the goddess and does Aarti (a ritual in which the deity is venerated by waving a lighted lamp around the image). Then, on the third night, the devotees offer the special niyams (ritualistic offerings) to the goddess, including sweets, fruits, flowers and lamps. On the fourth night, Homa (a ritual of offering incense and ghee) is performed. Finally, on the fifth night, the devotees sing Bhajans (devotional hymns).
