History:

St. Marien Parish was founded in 1877 as a mission of the Diocese of Green Bay. It served the growing Catholic population of the area, which had begun to increase as Belgian, French Canadian, and German immigrants moved to the area for work. The first church structure was completed in 1891, followed by an addition in 1901. The church was renovated in 1952, and a school was built in 1961. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Germany.
