is immersed with Civil War era's one room Baptist Church. The Church was located south of Darien, GA on Rountree’s Island, mainly an agricultural area with a few slaves. In 1870, the Reverend Isaac Leonard was the first congregant. The early church was of the Primitive Baptist denomination and met in the traditional one room meeting house. The church was completely self-supporting and was served by rotating circuit riders. In 1947 the church was rebuilt and sheet rock added to the interior walls of the building. Around 2005 central air-conditioning and new stained-glass windows were added to the church. The church is currently an active part of the local community and is associated with the Georgia Baptist Convention. It is one of the best churches in Georgia which you must visit.
