Suomen Adventtikirkko, or the Finnish Adventist Church, is a Christian denomination which, although acknowledged as part of the main stream of Protestantism, is seen as a distinct movement of Christianity. Founded in 1863, it is the oldest Protestant denomination in Finland. It is a member of the World Council of Churches, the Lutheran World Federation and the Finnish Ecumenical Council. The first Adventist church was established in Helsinki, Finland in 1863. This church was founded by a small group of followers of William Miller and Jonas Wendell. Jonas Wendell was the first pastor of the church. Suomen Adventtikirkko grew steadily until World War I, when it saw a decrease in membership and income. Despite this, it regained its strength during the inter-war period. After World War II the church experienced a major growth, especially due to the large number of immigrants to Finland, many of whom were Adventists.
