The first church was built in Nakkila village in 1630. However, it was destroyed in 1721 during the Great Northern War. Construction of the current building began in 1781 and it was completed two years later in 1783. The altar painting, depicting "The Exaltation of the Holy Cross", was added to the church in 1817.
