HISTORY:
The church was originally established in 1987 as part of the Estonian Orthodox Church in Exile, following the country’s occupation by the Soviet Union. In 1997, it joined the Church of Finland as the Hämeenlinna Orthodox Congregation.
FACTS:
The church’s main service is held every Sunday at 11am and there are regular services throughout the week. It is also a popular venue for baptisms, weddings, funerals and other ceremonies.
SERVICES:
The church holds services in both Finnish and Russian, and its congregation is made up of both Finns and Russians. It also offers education, support, and charities. The church supports a number of ecological projects, including tree planting and other green initiatives.
