History:
The church was founded by the canons of Osney Abbey, who were granted the charter to construct a church in the area in 1220. The church was originally known as 'Beatrice's Church' after Beatrice de Say, who funded the church's construction. Over the following centuries the church underwent numerous changes and renovations. In 1904, the chancel and transepts were rebuilt, while the nave and aisles were also restored and adorned with beautiful stained glass windows. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in England.

The Parish Church of the Transfiguration has an impressive timber spire, which is over 40 meters tall, making it one of the tallest spires among churches in the area. The interior of the church is also impressive, featuring an Elizabethan pulpit, a 14th-century octagonal font and a carved wood statue of the Madonna and Child dating back to the 16th-century.

The church provides regular services, including a traditional Anglican communion on the first and third Sundays of each month.
