The Holy Sepulchre, Church is a venerated Christian site which is believed to be the place where Jesus Christ was crucified, buried and resurrected. This holy site is located in the old city of Jerusalem. The church has been a source of pilgrimage for Christian churches throughout the world since at least the 4th century AD. It is under the jurisdiction of the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Jerusalem, with a Catholic and a Coptic presence as co-guardians of the Church. The present-day structure is a composite of two main parts: the traditional Edicule or Tomb of Christ, and the larger Church of the Resurrection. History:

According to tradition and archaeological evidence, the first church at the site was built by the Roman Emperor Constantine the Great between 326 and 335 AD. This original church was then replaced by successively larger churches which were built and destroyed during the course of centuries of wars, earthquakes and fires.
