History:
The Evangelical Covenant Church has its roots in the Great Revival of 1858, which resulted in the formation of what is now known as the Covenant movement. During this time, Swedish immigrants sought to create a denomination that combined the Evangelical emphasis on evangelism and piety that was common in the homeland, with social justice and stewardship typically emphasized within American churches. The first Covenant Church was established in Wisconsin in 1885 and, when it was founded, was called the Swedish Evangelical Mission Covenant of America. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in USA.
