History:
St. Wistan is believed to have had a notable influence in this area of England during the 7th century, leading the people to convert to Christianity and establishing the Abbey of Evesham. He is also believed to have founded several churches in England, and his monastic house at Evesham became a centre for learning and teaching. He was martyred in 686 CE and venerated as a saint. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in England.

The green colour of the Evesham Martyrs window is said to represent his martyrdom.

St. Wistan is still remembered by many in the area of Evesham and beyond today. Each year, a pilgrimage is held around Evesham to the sites related to the saint and his martyrdom. There are also several churches dedicated to the saint which are still standing today.
