St Thomas’s was organized in the fall of 1817 by an Episcopal missionary. The church congregation of free and enslaved African Americans was composed of slaveholders, brewers, and artisans. Each Sunday services are held at St Thomas’s Church. Regular parish services occur at 8:00am, 11:00am, and 6:00pm. Services are preceded by pre-service prayer in the back of the upper church at 7:30am, 10:30am, and 5:15pm. All services are welcoming and prayer and scripture readings are held in both English and Spanish.
