St.-Anna-Kirche is a Protestant church located in the town of Schmölln, Saxony, Germany. It was built between the years of 1707 and 1710 in a Baroque style and is one of the most important churches in Saxony. The Baroque spire stands at 34.5 meters tall and is topped off with a lantern. It is one of the best churches in Germany which you must visit.

History:

The building of the Anna-Kirche began in 1707 and was completed in 1710. It is dedicated to the saint Anna, mother of the Virgin Mary. The church remained largely unchanged from its inception up until 1915 when two components were added - the cross and the bell tower. The bell tower was designed by architect Hermann Schottelius and contains 8 bells. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Germany.

St.-Anna-Kirche is famous for its beautiful Baroque interiors, containing 12 oil paintings by Augustin Herrmann and a grand altar by Michael Franck. It is also home to a unique organ, made in 1751 by J. Abel and modified in 1841. It is still in working order today.
