The Mosque of Al-Sayyid Abu al-Nasr al-Mahrous is located in the heart of the Cairo Old City in Egypt. It was commissioned by the Mamluk Sultan Sayf Al-Din Mahmud ibn Abu al-Nasr al-Mahrous in 1312 and built shortly thereafter. The main minaret and entrance hall were restored in 1497. The Mosque contains breathtaking interior and exterior designs with intricate stone carvings. In the center is the enclosed sanctuary, which is covered with curved wooden window frames. A variety of unique inscriptions adorn the walls of the prayer hall. The large courtyard contains the remains of old minarets and access to several other mosques.
