History:
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was founded in 1830 by Joseph Smith, Jr., who claimed to have received a personal revelation from God. Smith based the church's doctrines and rituals on the teachings of the Bible, as well as additional revelations he said he received. Following Smith's death in 1844, the church was led by successive presidents, the most prominent being Brigham Young. In 1847, the church moved its headquarters to Salt Lake City, Utah, where it established itself as a theocratic state. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Dominican Republic.
