The church was established in the late 19th century and has served the people of Gascue since then. It is part of the Diocese of Santo Domingo and was assigned to the Dominican Redemptorists in 1941. The church was first constructed in the late 19th century and later opened in 1888 by the Dominican Republic’s President Ulises Heureaux.
